IBER represents Brunei Darussalam in the Sub-regional NBSAP Dialogue for ASEAN and Timor-Leste

IBER was invited by the Brunei Forestry Department to attend the Sub-regional NBSAP Dialogue for ASEAN and Timor-Leste held on 14 to 17 August 2023 in Manila, the Philippines. Representing Brunei Darussalam at the Dialogue were Mr. Zaeidi Hj Berudin, Head of the Heart of Borneo Centre and Senior Forestry Office from the Forestry Department, and Associate Professor Dr Rahayu Sukmaria Hj Sukri from IBER. The Dialogue was organised by the Secretariat of the Convention of Biological Diversity of the United Nations and the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity. The dialogue sessions focused on sharing of experiences and tools for the revision and updating of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAP) in alignment with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) adopted in 2022 at COP 15. The Kunming-Montreal GBF supports the achievement of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and envisions a world of living in harmony with nature. As the key research institute driving biodiversity research in Brunei Darussalam, IBER actively contributes and engages with the Brunei Forestry Department in the country’s NBSAP, collaboratively working towards a sustainable and biodiverse future for Brunei Darussalam.
